WHAT WE OFFER
Initial Class: Protecting God’s Children for Adults
Protecting God’s Children for Adults (PGC) is the initial course that replaced the previous Keeping Children’s Safe program. This session normally lasts around 3.5 hours and requires a Volunteer Application, which authorizes a background check and Code of Conduct Acknowledgement. Certification expires after 2 years.
Renewal Class: Boundaries for Lay Adults OR A Plan to Protect Boundaries for Lay Adults or A Plan to Protect are renewal courses that can be taken after you have successfully taken the Initial Protecting God’s Children for Adults (PGC). This session normally lasts around 1 1/2 hours and requires a new Code of Conduct Acknowledgement to be signed. As with PGC, this certification also expires every 2 years. Background checks are taken every 5 years.
Pre-Teen Leader Training (11-13 years)
This training is parent taught.
Teen Leader Training (14-17 years)
This training is for any teen that would like to volunteer for any event or ministry in our parish. The session usually lasts for 3 hours. Parent signature required. Certification expires after 3 years.
Empowering God's Children (PK/K-12th)
When you enroll your child(ren) for the current formation year, you will be informed of our program and asked whether or not you give your consent for your child(ren) to participate in this class. Whether you choose to opt in or opt out, you will be given a form to sign.
The material in the program is founded on the principles of appropriate relationship boundaries in the broader context of Christian values and virtues, and each lesson is developmentally appropriate for the specific age group. Each lesson includes content with simple and fun activities that reinforce the message.
